Prayer for the Evening
Because You are good and You are just…
Praise to You, Lord Jesus!
Because You have given me everything…
Praise to You, Lord Jesus!
Because at every step Your providence reveals
itself to me.
Praise to You, Lord Jesus!
Because You have created me to love You, to serve You, and to praise Your Name through even the most humble of my prayers and my actions.
Praise to You, Lord Jesus!
And because You have loved me so much…
Praise to You, Lord Jesus!
I give You thanks for having made me Your child
Praise to You, Lord Jesus!
For having impressed Your image and likeness in me …
Praise to You, Lord Jesus!
For this echo of Your charity which resounds in my soul and bursts forth from it whenever my soul listens to the beating of Your Heart…
Praise to You, Lord Jesus!
For giving me knowledge of Your infinity, a knowledge that You cultivate in me hour after hour, day after day, in keeping with my desire to seek You…
Praise to You, Lord Jesus!
For the examples of gentleness, humility and
obedience that the Gospel gives me…
Praise to You, Lord Jesus!
For the chance You give me to sanctify my
sufferings by uniting them to those of Your
earthly life, to Your Passion, to Your Death…
Praise to You, Lord Jesus!
And for having loved me so much…
Praise to You, Lord Jesus!
Praise to You for my exile on this earth that
prepares me for my encounter with You…
Praise to You, Lord Jesus!
For the disappointments here below that
nourish my hope in eternal happiness…
Praise to You, Lord Jesus!
For the days of my past life and for those
which are yet to come…
Praise to You, Lord Jesus!
For the graces of today and for those of
tomorrow and of my whole life…
Praise to You, Lord Jesus!
And for my death which shall be the dawning
of my birth in heaven…
Praise to You, Lord Jesus!
For the poor human words in which I express
my needs to You and You are all too happy to heed …
Praise to You, Lord Jesus!
For the heart to Heart intimacy of my fervent prayers…
Praise to You, Lord Jesus!
For the silence in which I stand before You
when I have no words left to say…

For the inner promptings You give me so as
to keep me pure and upright in Your presence
and to help me remain therein…
