Prayer of consecration

Father of lights, from Whom descends every perfect gift, it has pleased You, “in Your wisdom and in Your kindness,” to reveal Yourself to the world through Your Only-Begotten Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ.

Eternal Word, sent from the Father, You who enlighten everyone so as to “tear them from the darkness of sin and raise them to eternal life,” we come to place ourselves in the rays of Your light.

And, since You have wished to show us Your Heart as the living symbol of the Everlasting Love which loves each one of us, teach us how to enter into its contemplation.

At Calvary, You allowed streams of living water to spring forth from Your side, pierced by the lance.  With great joy and thanksgiving, we come to draw our salvation from this life-giving Source.

Savior Jesus, to contemplate Love is not enough for us;  we wish also to place ourselves at its service, as we learn from You that we also must “give our lives for our brothers and sisters.”

To this end, we ask You to consecrate all our activities, our sufferings, our prayers, as if they were “spiritual hosts” united to the Host consecrated on the altar in memory of You.  Allow that, united in this way to Your most pure, holy and unblemished offering, we may share in Your work of Redemption.  Grant that having lived in one faith and in one hope that all peoples may one day proclaim in one voice:

“For the Kingdom, the Power and the Glory are Yours now and for ever.  Amen!”
