Friendship in the Sacred Heart
As we unite ourselves before the Sacred Heart with devotion and prayer, we find that the people with whom we pray, faithfully, one in the Heart of Jesus, what do we experience in our relationships with other? Is it friendship? How is this friendship expressed? In her letter to Mother Louise-Henriette at Moulins of August, 1682, Margaret Mary writes from Paray-le-Monial, acknowledging the “friendship” of Mother Louise-Henriette. How does Margaret Mary repay Mother Louise-Henriette for her friendship? In the Sacred Heart of Jesus. While the two nuns find themselves apart in two cloistered monasteries, it does not keep them from exercising a friendship in the Sacred Heart. And what does this friendship in the Sacred Heart look like? Margaret Mary recommends Mother Louise-Henriette to Jesus so that He may accomplish in Mother Louise-Henriette all His designs. Margaret Mary understands that we are to be the vessels by which the designs of Jesus are carried out and friendship is reflected in this intercessory prayer united in the Sacred Heart. Margaret Mary deepens her prayer with a Litany of the Blessed Sacrament asking Mother Louise-Henriette to unite herself with her in these prayers. Friendship then reflects oneness in the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
Lord, may our friendships be in your Sacred Heart
Prayer to Renew Our Fidelity and Devotion
Divine Jesus, my Savior and my King, with all my heart I renew the promise which I have made to love, to glorify and to console Your adorable Heart as a member of the Guard of Honor. Grant O good Master, to make me daily more loving, more devoted and more faithful. I ask this same grace for all the Associates through the most sweet Heart of Your Mother. AMEN
