Guards of Honor 1st Friday / June 2022 Fr. David Bellusci, OP

The Cross of Love

Writing to Sister Marie-Bernarde Payelle in July 1681, St. Margaret Mary  focusses on “love.” The fullness of the humanity of Jesus is reflected in His  inexhaustible capacity to love. Jesus was not worn out by love or loving.  Jesus died on the Cross to pour out His love for us. Following Jesus, we are  called to love in truth, without worrying if we have not loved enough or  loved badly, but to strive each day to love more perfectly. In conforming  ourselves to Jesus we can indeed love, as Jesus loves. We begin to love Jesus  by detaching ourselves from the world; when we are not cluttered by our  possessions, we can make more room for Jesus, in our hearts, minds, and  souls. To love the Sacred Heart of Jesus, then, means to direct our hearts to  the Heart of Jesus. And even as our life circumstances change, Jesus’ love for  us remains inseparable. Now let us ask for grace so our hearts may burn for  Jesus; that the Immaculate Heart of Mary, may be our guide. Amen.

Prayer to Renew Our Fidelity and Devotion

Divine Jesus, my Savior and my King, with all my heart I  renew the promise which I have made to love, to glorify and  to console Your adorable Heart as a member of the Guard  of Honor. Grant O good Master, to make me daily more  loving, more devoted and more faithful. I ask this same  grace for all the Associates through the most sweet Heart of  Your Mother. AMEN
